Justice League: trailer and reaction
After a long time waiting, Warner Bros. dropped the Justice League trailer.
Here’s the trailer:
We are going to analyze what is in the trailer.
I’m not going to be easy on this. If you read around here, you know I don’t consider Batman v Superman a good movie, despite I might enjoy it every now and then.
Too many things weren’t logical or straight up didn’t make sense in the movie. Luckily, this trailer just have one thing that so far doesn’t make sense (and that’s a start).
The trailer opens with a guy and a horse, hence reminding us that Zack Snyder is a horse fetishist.
While we know the guys is Bruce Wayne, it’s not yet revealed. Which is a good thing.
He is with his horse in a seemingly desolated area. He arrives on a cliff. He sees a little town with roads leading there – hence making the man going around on a horse very forced. Yet again, cinematic shots over logic.
But, as I said before, this is the only illogical part of the trailer.
Aquaman looks cool. Looks badass, dark but with a sense of humor (which needed to be there given the fame of the character). So far, it looks like could be one of the highlights of the movie.
Cyborg seems it could benefit from more CGI work. So far, it really looks like a cartoon, no matter how spectacular it would end up being. On top of that, he really resembles Mecha Frieza too much.
Regarding The Flash, I’m sure Zack Snyder is thanking God to have him in the movie, as it legitimize the use of slow motion shots. That said, Ezra Miller really looks the part and it’s clear it will be the main comic relief. However, from what we saw it could steal the show. This time the whole audience will know who he is ( cough cough, dream sequence in Batman v Superman, cough cough).
Wonder Woman looks exactly like in BvS and her upcoming movie.
Superman is not there. He’s “dead”, but hopefully it will be kept out of the marketing. But, again, doomsday was initially kept out of the BvS marketing…
Anyways, let’s come to Batman. Ben looks good enough, and it still does. They nailed the look and the physical movements. Hopefully, this time around the writing will be good enough to legitimize this version of the character once and for all. And hopefully it will go way beyond the one liners we had in this trailer.
Overall, it looks like an efficient trailer (apart from the horsey beginning).
I just noticed some things:
- The aspect ratio is different this time around, probably to make the whole film suitable for IMAX Screens;
- It takes itself less seriously, self aware that while being a tad more mature than Marvel movies it still is a fantasy superhero flick;
- The plot seems to be very similar to The Avengers, which should not be a problem if it presents the characters relationship correctly.
Overall, I still have my drawbacks, but my excitement admittedly is growing, but, given the previous results, I will keep my expectations as low as possible. At least I’ll be able to enjoy the movie at its max.
Justice League will be released on November 17th, 2017. Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Gal Gadot, Jesse Eisenberg and Jeremy Irons will return joined by Ezra Miller, Jason Momoa, Ray Fisher, J.K. Simmons and Ciaràn Hinds.
