WrestleMania 33 Preview: are Bray Wyatt and Brock Lesnar going to be World Champions after Sunday?

Despite being a tad underwhelming compared to the teased prospects we had, I’m still excited to watch WrestleMania.

Coming from Orlando, Florida 9 years after the splendid 24 edition, we have two world championship matches, two women’s championship multi-contenders bouts, a yet again triple threat tag team ladder match, three full timers fighting part timers, and former friends getting against each other, which will also be one of the two mid-card title matches.

And a overbooked Battle Royal no one will really cares about, but that somehow delivers some moments.

Anyways, what do you know? Let’s get to the predictions!

Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal

Andre the Giant memorial Battler Royal

Nothing much to say here.

Big Show, Kane (yet not official), Mark Henry and probably other former champions will be part of the match, but won’t win.

The favorite is clearly Strowman, but I would not discard Sami Zayn, Ziggler, who despite everything is still there no matter what, and the potential Nakamura and Balor call ups (even though they are unlikely given the match is in the pre-show.

Winner: Braun Strowman

WWE Cruiserweight Championship: Neville (c) vs Austin Aries

Austin Aries, former TNA and ROH World Champion, finally debuts at the show of the shows. Unluckily, will be on the kick-off show.

Some might think is a bad thing. But both this guys can put on a great fight, no doubt about it. And with this being free for all (hopefully will take place during the second hour which will air on USA), it could push more Network subscribers for both WrestleMania itself and 205 Live.

Anyways, Austin Aries will stand tall, but they need to protect Neville, as his heel persona is working well.

I honestly think Neville is going to retain, but Aries will backfire and will stand tall after the match. Another way around would be Aries winning by cheating. But, I’ll stick with Neville this time around.

Winner and still Cruiserweight Champion: Neville.

This are the only to bouts programmed for the pre-show.

I see a cruiserweight tag team match be part of the first hour, which could also contain some angle. Otherwise, just people talking.

Raw Tag Team Triple Threat Ladder Match: Gallows & Anderson (c) vs Enzo & Big Cass vs Cesaro & Sheamus

It could be a fun fight, even though I don’t see anyone taking risky bumps. So don’t expect another WM 17 TLC. Or even some of the early Money In The Bank matches.

Anyways, here literally anyone could win. If we didn’t know Balor would line up with the faces (as he’s rumored to come to Seth Rollins aid), I was going to say Gallows and Anderson win no matter what, so the newly formed Club would start taking over Raw.

But that’s the case? Nope.

I chose Enzo & Cass for the win, as they are over with the audience and would create a pretty decent WrestleMania moment.

Winners and new Raw Tag Team Champions: Enzo & Big Cass

WWE Intercontinental Championship Match: Dean Ambrose (c) vs Baron Corbin

Baron Corbin needs to win. Dean Ambrose needs to not lose.

This is a very tricky situation, obviously. Baron is probably going to win the title, but he might cheat his way to the title. Either a weapon, or something to protect Ambrose in some sort, as he has been falling at the bottom of the card since October.

Winner and new Intercontinental Champion: Baron Corbin

SmackDown Women’s Championship Match: Alexa Bliss (c) vs all available Women in the SDLive roster

I know, I know: it was made as a Six Pack challenge on last SmackDown, yet WWE.com still list it as above. Reason is that they finally struck a deal with surprise participants? Who knows.

I’m happy they moved it back into the main show: the SmackDown girls are really pushing themselves and somehow managed to be better than Raw’s.

It’s a pity that the result is obvious (so far), it could have given the bout more pathos.

Winne and New SmackDown Women’s Champion: Naomi

WWE United States Championship Match: Chris Jericho (c) vs Kevin Owens

First match that could have meant much more, but instead it’s relegated to a minor title.

It’s probably the first favorite to be match of the night, even though I don’t see a win need for either of them.

I go with Jericho picking up the win, and then Owens injures Y2J, maybe involving some blood as well, which will force Jericho to vacate the title.

Winner and Still WWE US Champion: Jericho

John Cena & Nikki Bella vs The Miz & Maryse

If we were using logic, Miz and Maryse are going over, making Miz the only individual to defeat John Cena twice at WrestleMania.

However, I don’t think this will be the case.

While John is taking yet another hiatus away from the WWE to shoot Daddy’s Home 2 (with the movie picking up exactly where the first one ended), he was beaten by The Miz at WrestleMania 27, in the main event.

So, standing to WWE logic, the former Chain Gang leader and his girlfriend Nikki Bella are picking up the win.

Winners: John Cena and Nikki Bella

Raw Women’s Championship Elimination Match: Bayley (c) vs Sasha Banks vs Charlotte vs Nia Jax

Another way they actually booked themselves to a corner, similarly to what happened at FastLane with Strowman vs Reigns match.

Let’s start by saying Bayley is a really underwhelming champion. Yes, she is a kid character, very cute, literally the female Hulk Hogan, given also her incredibly ridiculous finisher. But she is a face champion who won the belt through cheating, and she didn’t really tried to distance herself from that.

Then, we have Nia Jax, who is going to be eliminated within 5 minutes after taking all the finishers from the other three contestants.

Sasha Banks only purpose is to turn heel at the end of the match.

Last but not the least, Charlotte, the only winner who is going to make everyone happy and have less damages.

Ric daughter going to win, after Sasha gets eliminated by Bayley, who she KOs and then Charlotte pins her for the win.

Winner and New Raw Women’s Champion: Charlotte

Non-Sanctioned Match: Seth Rollins vs Triple H

What to expect here?

Rollins gets barely cleared to compete, and if not it will be a 15 minute angle, overbooked. Joe runs it, Balor runs in, Owens runs in, Zayn runs in.

Everyone gets a run-in.

Anyways, it could go two ways: the first, Rollins has been actually cleared, so we get a proper match. If not, they are going to overbook the match for real, and Rollins picks up the win because, you know, he is a face.

Either ways, we are not getting the match we would have if Seth was 100% healthy. So interferences are a given.

Winner: Seth Rollins

AJ Styles vs Shane McMahon

Everyone seems mad at this match. I get it, AJ could have been used in a lot of better ways, but since he fights Shane, it sounds like the final WWE blessing to me.

After Mania, AJ is back into the WWE Championship scenario, which sounds good to me.

I see AJ to pick up the win to be realistic. If not, Shane gets a roll up win when half dead, and Styles beats him up even more.

Winner: AJ Styles

The Undertaker vs Roman Reigns

Despite all the rumors, do I think Roman will pick up the win and end Undertaker’s career? No. Do I think this will be Taker’s last match? No, because each one of them supposedly was the last.

Anyways, this match doesn’t excite me at all. It might be my piss break.

I see taker going over, but, yet again, Roman will be the last one standing tall, and druids are going to take ‘Taker away, teasing his career ending.

He will come back next year to face John Cena.

Winner: The Undertaker

WWE Universal Championship: Goldberg (c) vs Brock Lesnar w/ Paul Heyman

I really hope this won’t go last, as it could be a buzz killer like last year’s main event.

It will last under 10 minutes, Brock will dominate 5 minutes, with suplexes here and there and an F-5, but Bill will kick out. Goldberg will Spear, Spear and Jackhammer him once again as a comeback, but Brock will kick out. Spear, Brock will kick out yet again. He’ll try another Jackhammer, Brock reverses it into an F-5. 1,2,3. Ding, ding, ding, we have a new Universal Champion.

Winner and New Universal Champion: Brock Lesnar

WWE Championship Match: Bray Wyatt (c) vs Randy Orton

If AJ Styles was in this match, making it a triple threat, surely was going to be the main event. Everyone was a fan favorite, and everyone would have been ok with the outcome.

With just Randy and Bray, it feels like lack of starpower, and perhaps Vince won’t let them main event the show.

That said, potentially this can be a great match, if they go beyond and above what they showed us in their rivalry. Storyline wise, Bray should go all out and destroy Orton, but the Viper will not be taken down easily.

Bray also teased a Sister Abigail appearance. We’ll finally see her?

Anyways, I see Wyatt going over, because Orton does not need a W.

Winner and Still WWE Champion: Bray Wyatt

Overall, I think it will be a nice WrestleMania, even though it won’t be great.

That said, I can’t wait for Sunday!
